Your Support helps United Way and its partner agencies impact lives.

You helped an 81-year-old client with very advanced Alzheimer’s coming to the United Way funded adult daycare agency for almost six years. The client’s family chose to take her to the agency rather than put her in a nursing home, because they wanted her to be surrounded by family for the remaining years of her life. At the agency, a Nurse and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA’s) assisted the client in eating, using the restroom, monitoring hydration levels and walking with her for 20 minutes to a half an hour each day to maintain muscle function. Because of this United Way partner agency, this woman and her family saved $169,800 in Medicaid dollars that they would have paid if she were in a nursing home.

You helped when a local veteran turned to a United Way partner agency for help.  He had just returned from a tour of duty in Iraq and had previoulsy been discharged for medical reasons just two weeks shy of his 20 years of service.

Now, the family was facing the loss of their home (that he had invested his $30,000 savings in just before going overseas) because they couldn't make their mortgage payments. Their electricity was also getting cut off that day.

As a result of the collaborative work of local United Way partner agencies, they were able to get him back on orders, so he could begin to draw his full pay and also qualify him for medical treatment.  They contacted the pending foreclosure attorney and negotiated a repayment plan on his mortgage. With help of financial assistance from area agencies; he was also able to keep his electricity on.

A catastrophic crisis for this man and his family was averted.
