Day of Caring is United Way of Shenandoah Northern Shenandoah Valley’s flagship community event, and one of the most well-known and visible moments for volunteerism and corporate partnership in our region. Each year, Day of Caring volunteers' complete projects that directly benefit local schools, nonprofits, and faith-based organizations throughout the City of Winchester and Clarke, Frederick, Page, Shenandoah, and Warren Counties. In 2023, more than 400 volunteers participated and completed more than 100 service projects.

If you work at a nonprofit, public school, local government office, or other tax-exempt organization and have a task or project that could use a few volunteers, please reach out! If you work at, or are part of, an organization or group that would like to put together a volunteer team, we would love to chat as well. Please note, due to demand, not all groups find a project that fits their team for Day of Caring. However, if that is the case, United Way will find a volunteer opportunity that is a great fit for your group on another day.
